Trump: Meeting with North Korea to happen ‘quite soon’

President Donald Trump said Monday said that a second meeting with North Korea’s Kim Jong Un would happen “quite soon,” after the other leader requested a follow-up to their historic summit earlier this year.

“The relationships are very good with North Korea. We have many things in store. Looks like we’ll have a second summit quite soon,” Trump said. “Secretary Pompeo will work that out in the immediate future.”

The White House had previously said it was planning a second summit, but details have been scarce. Press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said earlier this month that the release of three American hostages in May and the repatriation of the remains of American service members killed during the Korean War were proof that relations between the two countries were improving.
